Lumaki Privacy Policy
Lumaki (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) transforms your health data into a living, evolving plant. Your privacy is fundamental to how Lumaki is built.
What Data Lumaki Reads
Lumaki reads the following data types from Apple Health, with your explicit permission:
- Steps
- Flights climbed
- Active energy burned
- Sleep analysis
- Mindfulness sessions
- Workouts
- Heart rate variability (if available)
- Respiratory rate (if available)
You control which data types Lumaki can access through Apple Health settings. Lumaki never writes data to Apple Health.
How Your Data Is Processed
All health data processing happens entirely on your device. Lumaki converts your health metrics into abstract plant parameters (such as stem height, root depth, leaf density) using an on-device function. These plant parameters are non-reversible — they cannot be used to reconstruct your original health data.
Your raw health data never leaves your device. It is never sent to our servers, third-party services, or any external system.
What Is Stored in the Cloud
Lumaki stores the following via iCloud Key-Value Store for cross-device sync:
- Plant name
- Visual style preference
- Selected goals
- Plant seed (the random value that shapes your plant)
- Plant start date
- The date your free period started
These are app preferences and plant identity, not health data. There is no separate Lumaki account: sync rides your own iCloud. Raw health data and your per-day plant parameters never leave your device.
Anonymous Usage Data
Lumaki collects anonymous, aggregate usage counters — which features are used and how far onboarding gets — to help us improve the app. This data is keyed by a random identifier created on your device (not your name, Apple ID, advertising identifier, or IP address, which we do not record), never includes a health value of any kind, and is uploaded in batches to a server we operate ourselves. No third-party SDKs are involved, and this data is never used for advertising, sold, or used to track you across apps or websites.
Sharing usage data is on by default. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Share Usage Data, which stops all uploads. Resetting the app clears the random identifier. You can also request deletion of the usage events stored on our server — see “Data Retention and Deletion” below.
What Lumaki Does Not Do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not serve advertisements.
- We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. The only analytics are the anonymous, optional usage counters described above, sent to a server we operate ourselves.
- We do not share your data with third parties.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not collect device identifiers for advertising purposes.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Lumaki does not process or store payment information.
Notifications
All notifications are generated locally on your device. Lumaki does not use server-side push notifications.
Data Retention and Deletion
You can reset all app data at any time from Settings within the app. This removes all locally stored preferences and plant state, and clears the random identifier used for anonymous usage data — any new usage data cannot be connected to the old identifier. Health data remains in Apple Health and is not affected by resetting Lumaki.
You can also request deletion of the anonymous usage events stored on our server at any time by emailing privacy@lumaki.app.
Children's Privacy
Lumaki does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app reads health data only with explicit user permission through Apple Health.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted within the app and on our website. We will update the “Last Updated” date at the top.
