Why isn't my plant growing?
The most common cause is Apple Health permissions. Open the Settings app → Health → Data Access & Devices → Lumaki and make sure the data types you want are turned on — steps, flights climbed, active energy, sleep, workouts and mindfulness, plus heart-rate variability and respiratory rate if you wear an Apple Watch. Lumaki updates your plant each time you open the app, using the best data available at that moment.
My sleep from last night isn't showing yet.
Sleep data can take a while to sync from Apple Watch or third-party apps — sometimes hours, occasionally longer. Your plant incorporates late-arriving data gracefully; nothing is lost. Check back later in the day.
Which apps work with Lumaki?
Any app that syncs to Apple Health: Strava, Peloton, Headspace, Calm, Oura, WHOOP, Garmin, Nike Run Club, and many more. In each app, look for a setting like “Apple Health” or “Health app” and enable syncing. Lumaki reads everything through Apple Health — no separate connections needed.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
Your plant pauses exactly where it is. It never resets, shrinks or disappears — it's still yours, still beautiful, just still, and your timeline stays fully browsable. Subscribe again and it wakes up, catching up on every day it missed. (The same goes if you skip subscribing during setup: your plant grows free for 7 days and then pauses until you subscribe. The 30 free days arrive as an Apple introductory offer when you do — cancel anytime during them and pay nothing.)
Can I change how my plant looks?
Yes — Settings → Appearance holds both halves of it. Plant style offers four renderings of the same plant: Lumaki (soft sculpted light, free), Tuldok (light laid down in dots), Sapaw (thick strokes of oil paint) and Ukit (an engraved line tinted by hand). The other three come with a subscription. A style changes how your plant is drawn, never its shape or its growth, so switching costs you nothing.
Theme offers Light, Dark, System, and Time of day — light by day and dark at night, with your plant's scene dimming through the evening. This is a per-device setting: an iPad on a bright desk and an iPhone in bed are allowed to disagree.
Does the timeline get locked if I don't subscribe?
Never. A subscription gates growth and nothing else. Because your plant can't grow past the point it paused, the history you can scrub back through is always exactly what you grew — and every day you earned stays yours permanently.
How do I add the widget?
Long-press your home screen, tap the + button, search for Lumaki, then choose a widget and tap Add. There's a lock-screen widget too. Both show your plant and one figure, and refresh once each morning. The walkthrough lives in Settings → Widget inside the app whenever you want it again.
Can I share my plant?
Yes, from the share control at the top of the plant screen. You can export a still image of your plant as it is today, or a timelapse video of it growing — the past week, the last 30 or 90 days, since day one, or all of it. (The video needs about a week of history before there's anything worth lapsing.) Neither is behind the subscription, and your health numbers never appear in what you share: only your plant, its name, and the day it's on.
What notifications will I get?
At most two kinds, both optional and both chosen by you: one each morning with how your plant grew overnight, and one each week with what the week grew. You pick the morning time and the weekly day in Settings → Notifications. Every notification is written on your device — Lumaki has no server to push you anything from.
Does it work on my iPad?
Yes. Lumaki runs on iPhone and iPad, iOS 18 or later, and your plant is the same on both — its name, style, goals and start date keep in step through your own iCloud. The health data itself stays on each device.
Can I bring in the health data I already have?
Up to the last 30 days, if you want to. At the end of setup Lumaki offers two starting points: keep your momentum, which begins your plant 30 days ago so it arrives already grown from your own last month, or start from a seed, which begins today and grows from nothing. Both are real plants; neither is a preview. Lumaki doesn't reach back further than that — deeper history makes for a slower app and a less personal story.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account, then open Lumaki's Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases. Subscriptions are tied to your Apple Account, so nothing is lost when you change devices.
Does Lumaki drain my battery?
No. Lumaki updates when you open the app rather than running in the background, and widgets refresh once a day. The 3D plant pauses its animation when you're not interacting with it.
Is my health data private?
Yes — by architecture, not just policy. Raw health data never leaves your device: your plant is grown on-device, and only its name, style, goals, seed, start date and the date your free period began sync via your own iCloud. Lumaki collects anonymous usage counts (never health values) to improve the app, which you can turn off in Settings → Share Usage Data. Read the full Privacy Policy.
